Paul Hassing won a contested election at the Department Convention in July to be Minnesota’s alternate NECman. Here he is at his first National Executive Committee meeting, which took place in Tampa after the National Convention in August. At the Department Convention in July, Bloomington Post 550 won the prestigious Pat Cliff Award from the Department Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation (VA&R) Committee for its work helping struggling veterans in the south metro. Pat Cliff Award

The Pat Cliff Award is also called the Post Service Officer Award. Find it in the trophy case at the entrance to the Bloomington Veterans Club.











Bloomington Legion Baseball once again hosted the Minnesota American Legion Baseball Div. I Jr. State Tournament. It was Aug. 1-3 at Red Haddox Field. The Burnsville Post 1700 Rattlers won the championship. Bloomington received the Sportsmanship Trophy, which is named for Post 550’s own Ron Nenovich.

At the Department Convention in July in Willmar, Post 550 Chaplain Jim Mead won a three-way contested election to become the department chaplain. Mead has since been traveling to many state-level American Legion events: Legion Rider runs, baseball tournaments, disabled veteran hunts, etc.
