The Bloomington Veterans Honor Guard, made up mostly of Bloomington Post 550 members, presented colors at the NFL Salute to Service at US Bank Stadium shortly before the Minnesota Vikings faced the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 9. “American Legion Post 550” was spoken over the loudspeaker for all fans to hear. The NFL gave the honor guard pins for their caps.

On Jan. 12, Department Commander Linda Dvorak visited Post 550, which had a great turnout of members on the evening of her visit. She reported being about $2,500 from her fundraising goal.

Post 550 Commander Blaine Beste greeted Dvorak and presented her a check for $2,500. Her fundraising project has a goal of $100,000, and Post 550 has given $5,000 total toward it. From what she raises, 75 percent goes to the Minnesota Veteran Assistance Fund and 25 percent is for the new Minnesota Military & Veterans Museum.
