Bloomington showed up in force this morning for the annual Memorial Day Parade!! Lyndale Avenue was standing room only with nearly 40 community and school groups and veterans organizations proudly representing the very best of our city.
We were honored to once again share the progress of the Bloomington Veterans Memorial, now under construction at Harrison Park and on track to open this fall in time for Veterans Day.
There is still time to add a veteran’s name to the memorial to ensure inclusion for the Dedication Ceremony Fall 2026. The deadline to be included for the opening is June 30.
Throughout this process, we’ve learned something important: veterans are humble. They serve with pride, professionalism, and determination — but are often the last to seek recognition for themselves.
If there is a special veteran in your life, living or deceased, please consider honoring them through the memorial.
For $350, their name will be permanently included on the memorial and featured in the Digital Veteran Library, where photos and stories of their service can be shared for generations to come.
We hope you’ll join us in honoring those who served.
